Complete the texts.

A. One day Mr Parker decided to visit his brother. David lived in the country. That day was his birthday and Mr Parker wanted to be with his brother’s family. Mr Parker took his brother’s address, got into the car and started out. He drove for a long time. Then he stopped and asked the woman who was passing by to help him. “Go straight for two miles”, she said, “then turn left and take the second road on the right”. Mr Parker did it but could not see his brother’s house. Then he saw that an old man was coming to his car. Mr Parker opened the window of his car and asked, “Excuse me, is this the second road on the right?”

B. Last Saturday I went to the shop and bought a present for my grandad. He was going to be sixty-five on Sunday. My parents and I decided to celebrate that day in a restaurant. Early in the morning we gathered in our sitting room, decorated it with flowers, postcards and balloons. Then we wrote a special greeting card as a symbol of our love, caught a taxi and came to the restaurant at six p.m. Our table was in a small cosy room. A fire was burning in the fireplace. We took out our boxes with presents and put them on a low table near the fireplace. Grandad was a little late. We hugged him and wished him a happy birthday, then we gave him our boxes and read the greeting card. During the evening his mobile often rang. His friends were sending him their love and good wishes. We returned home late. I think my grandad enjoyed the party.
