Mr and Mrs Davis had a son. His name was Bobby. It was Bobby’s birthday and his old grandfather came to visit him. He gave Bobby a nice toy car as a present and asked, “How old are you now, Bobby?” Bobby knew the answer to that question. “I am five, Grandpa,” he said. “That is good,” the old man smiled. “You are a big boy now. And what are you going to be when you are older?” Bobby knew the answer to that question too. He answered that he was going to be six.
B. Letter
Dear Jean,
Thank you for your letter. I got it yesterday. It came late in the evening. I was tired and was going to bed. But I began reading it and became very interested in the news. Your letter made me happy. I’m glad that little Jerry is learning French and has a lot of success. I think he can speak and understand the language a little. You write in your letter that Tom has a family now. He is married and has left for Africa. That’s very good for him. He can find a nice place and live there.
Give my love to mum,
Polly
