Korney Chukovsky’s pen name was Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky. His real name was Nickolai Vasilievich Korneychukov. He was born in 1882. In 1901 he chose the career of a writer and critic. He wrote some very good books for children, which became children’s classics, and did translations from English into Russian. In 1957 he became Doctor of Philology. He had two children, and later his son and daughter became writers. He died in 1969.
