At the Doctor’s
Doctor: Well, what seems to be the problem?
Doctor: So, it hurts to swallow, doesn’t it?
Doctor: Open your mouth wide. I would like to examine your throat.
Doctor: Well, it’s rather red.
Doctor: I don’t think it’s very serious. But you’ve got a cold. Do you have a headache?
Doctor: Then let’s take your temperature.
(Some minutes)
Doctor: Not very high. But you should stay in bed for two or three days.
Doctor: Certainly. I will prescribe some medicine for your sore throat and the temperature.
Completed dialogue:
Doctor: Well, what seems to be the problem?
Rob: I think I have a sore throat, doctor.
Doctor: So, it hurts to swallow, doesn’t it?
Rob: Yes, it does. It hurts very much. I practically can’t eat.
Doctor: Open your mouth wide. I would like to examine your throat. Well, it’s rather red.
Rob: Is it something very bad, doctor?
Doctor: I don’t think it’s very serious. But you’ve got a cold. Do you have a headache?
Rob: Yes, I do, doctor.
Doctor: Then let’s take your temperature.
Rob: What is it, doctor?
Doctor: Not very high. But you should stay in bed for two or three days.
Rob: Shall I take any medicines?
Doctor: Certainly. I will prescribe some medicine for your sore throat and the temperature.
Rob: Thank you very much, doctor.
