Dialogue 1
Parent: What’s the matter? Why aren’t you getting up, dear? It’s time to get ready for school.
Child: I’m afraid I have a problem. I have a sore throat and a headache.
Parent: Have you taken your temperature yet?
Child: Yes, it’s very high.
Parent: Poor thing! I think I’ll call the doctor. You need some medicine for your cough and sore throat.
Child: Thank you. Can you make me a hot drink, please?
Parent: Yes, of course. Wait a minute.
Dialogue 2
Pupil 1: Why didn’t you come to school today? Are you OK?
Pupil 2: No, not quite well. I’m ill. I have a headache and a sore throat.
Pupil 1: Did you call the doctor?
Pupil 2: Yes, he prescribed a couple of medicines for me.
Pupil 1: Can I help you get the medicines from the chemist’s?
Pupil 2: No, my parents have already gone to get them. But it was very kind of you to ask.
Pupil 1: OK. Get well soon. I’ll call you tomorrow and tell you about school.
Pupil 2: Thank you.
