If I had to invent a new international language, I would put the features in this order of importance:

1. simple grammar
2. international words
3. simple pronunciation
4. simple reading (no special reading rules)
5. few words
6. short words
7. fixed word stress
8. no transcription

I think simple grammar is the most important thing because people need to learn the language quickly and use it easily. International words are also very useful because they are familiar in many languages. Simple pronunciation and simple reading help people speak and read without difficulty.
