Artos and his family lived on a little farm. One day he saw many carts on the road. People were going to the mountains for safety because a Saxon king was coming with a great army. Artos’s father told him about King Arthur, Merlin and the Round Table. He explained that the Angles and Saxons were taking their land and that the tribe had to leave forever.

Artos remembered the motto of their tribe: “Fight for the ring. Fight with the ring. Fight in the ring.” It meant that the tribe must stay together and help their friends. At night Artos could not sleep. He played with his father’s ring, fell asleep and had a strange dream. In the morning he went to the priest, told him about the dream and asked what to do. The priest said that the ring had spoken and told him not to be afraid.
