Michael Lomonosov was born in 1711 in the village of Denisovka near Arkhangelsk. His father was a fisherman. Lomonosov loved reading and learning from an early age. In 1730 he went to Moscow to study. Later he studied in St Petersburg and in Germany. He became a famous scientist, poet and writer. He made a great contribution to Russian science and education. Lomonosov died in 1765.
