Special Days in Russia

Russia has many interesting holidays and festivals. My favourite ones are New Year, Maslenitsa and Victory Day.

New Year is the most popular holiday in Russia. People decorate a New Year tree, give presents and celebrate with their families and friends. Children wait for Father Frost and Snow Maiden.

Maslenitsa is a traditional Russian festival. It is celebrated at the end of winter. People make pancakes, play games and burn a straw figure to say goodbye to winter.

Victory Day is celebrated on the 9th of May. It is an important day for all Russian people. There are parades, concerts and fireworks. People remember those who fought in the Great Patriotic War.

These special days are very important because they bring people together and help us remember Russian traditions and history.
