Situation One. Two friends are speaking on the phone. One of them is going to visit a bookshop where a writer is going to present his/her book. The first friend invites his/her friend to go there together. The other doesn’t know anything about this writer or his/her books.
Situation Two. Two friends are discussing the future visit of a famous footballer to their school. The friends are football fans and often go to stadiums to watch football matches. They are discussing what questions to ask the well-known athlete.

Here is one possible dialogue for Situation One:

A: Hi, Kate! Are you free on Saturday?

B: Yes, I think so. Why?

A: I’m going to the bookshop. A famous writer is going to present his new book there. Would you like to go with me?

B: That sounds interesting, but I don’t know anything about this writer.

A: Don’t worry. I’ll tell you about him on the way. His books are very popular.

B: Great! What time shall we meet?

A: Let’s meet at 3 p.m. near the bookshop.

B: OK, see you then!

Here is one possible dialogue for Situation Two:

A: Did you hear that a famous footballer is coming to our school?

B: Yes, I did! I’m really excited. We should think of some questions to ask him.

A: Right. We can ask him how he started playing football.

B: Good idea. I’d also like to know how often he trains.

A: And what he does to stay fit.

B: We can ask which match was the most important in his career.

A: Yes, and what advice he would give to young football players.

B: That’s a great list of questions!
