On that first morning when the sky was blue again Mary (1) (wake) woke up very early. The sun (2) was shining through the curtains. Mary (3) understood that spring (4) had come. She jumped out of bed and (5) ran to the window. She (6) drew up the curtains and (7) opened the window itself which she (8) had closed the evening before. Mary (9) put her hand out and (10) held it in the sun.
“It must be very early,” she (11) said “I (12) have never seen such a blue sky. I think no one (13) is up yet. I (14) will go and what (15) has happened to the garden. I’d like to find out if it (16) has changed since I (17) fell asleep last night.
I hope the tulips (18) have appeared in my Secret Garden.” Mary (19) dressed and five minutes later she (20) was flying downstairs.
