Pete and Paul were friends. One day Pete (1) (invite) was invited to his friend’s birthday party. Pete asked his mother if he (2) could visit Paul on Saturday. Before Pete (5) went to the party on Saturday afternoon his mother (6) asked him (7) to be polite and (8) not to ask for food. “Wait until food (9) is given to you,” she said.
When Pete (10) arrived, he (11) saw that there (12) were a lot of boys and girls at the party. They (13) were playing some games. Pete joined them. They all (14) played together for an hour and then the children (15) were invited to have tea. Pete’s mother (16) gave some cakes to the children but somehow she (17) forgot to give Pete any. The boy (18) waited politely for a few minutes, and then he (19) held his plate up in the air and said loudly, “Does anyone want a nice clean plate?”
