A. Work in small groups and make a list of reasons why theatre is not dying, though it has so many rivals (cinema, television, etc.).

B. Compare your lists. Decide which arguments are the strongest.

Theatre is not dying because it gives people a live experience that cinema and television cannot replace. It is exciting to watch real actors on stage, and every performance is a little different. Theatre also creates a special atmosphere and strong emotions. Many people enjoy going to the theatre as a cultural event, and some like to discuss the performance afterwards. In addition, theatre can show classic and modern stories in an interesting way, so it remains important and attractive.
