1. Cinema a century ago. A century ago cinema was a special event. It was the Golden Age of Cinema, before television appeared. People watched silent black-and-white films in small cinema houses. Film stars were treated like kings and queens, and the first film studios were being built.
2. Cinema today. Today cinema is very different. We have multiplex cinemas, brand-new films, modern equipment, better picture and sound, and films in 3D. There are a lot of special effects. However, ticket prices are high, and the audience is often smaller and younger.
3. Cinema and theatre. Cinema is usually more popular than theatre because not all places have theatres. It is also cheaper and more entertaining. Theatre is more intellectual, but it takes more time and needs more imagination. Cinema usually has a bigger audience.
4. Films of different kinds. There are many types of films, and different people prefer different ones. Older and younger audiences like different kinds of films. Some people enjoy films from many countries, including Russian films, while others prefer old or new films. Of course, some films are not to everyone’s taste.
