a) Vital environmental problems are very serious today. One of the biggest problems is air pollution. Factories, cars and power stations pollute the air and make it dangerous for people and animals. Another problem is water pollution. Dirty water harms fish and other living things. We also have the problem of litter and rubbish. People throw away plastic bags, bottles and cans, and this spoils nature. Cutting down forests is another danger because many animals lose their homes. We should protect the environment, save water and electricity, recycle rubbish and plant more trees.

b)

A: We should organise a clean-up day in our town.

B: That’s a good idea. What should we do first?

A: First, we need to choose a place and a date.

B: Then we should invite our classmates and neighbours.

A: Yes, and we can make posters to tell people about the event.

B: We’ll need gloves, rubbish bags and maybe some tools.

A: Right. We can clean parks, streets and the river bank.

B: After that, we should sort the rubbish for recycling.

A: Great. Let’s make our town cleaner and nicer!
