On the one hand, independence means freedom within reasonable limits, of course. I think that when you are a teenager, you can feel free to choose what to wear, do sports, earn pocket money, decide how to celebrate your birthday, go on holiday, and decide what to do after school.
On the other hand, independence always means responsibility. If you feel grown up enough to make decisions, you should do the housework, take care of younger sisters and brothers, decide when to do your homework, and be polite with your parents. You should also be ready to solve problems on your own and not argue with your parents all the time.
So, for me, independence is not only freedom, but also responsibility. I want to be independent, but I understand that it means being sensible and caring about other people.
