Ellen MacArthur decided to go on that voyage because she had always dreamed of sailing around the world. She wanted to test herself and prove that she could do something very difficult. During the voyage she felt both excited and lonely. She had to overcome many difficulties, such as bad weather, tiredness and the feeling of being far away from home. One extremely dangerous episode happened when her boat was badly damaged by a storm, but she managed to stay calm and continue. What helped her to be a success was her determination, courage and strong will.
