A. Washington, D. C.

Washington, D. C. stands on the Potomac River. It has wide green streets and avenues. It is the capital of the USA. Congressmen work in the Capitol and make laws there. The White House is the home of the US President. There are a lot of interesting monuments in the city. Washington is also a city of museums. Its museums are world-famous, especially the National Air and Space Museum and the Natural History Museum.

B. New York

New York is called the Big Apple. It stands on the Hudson River. It is a big port and stands mainly on three islands. It is a big business centre and attracts thousands of visitors. There are lots of bridges and world-famous skyscrapers there. The Statue of Liberty is one of the symbols of the city. New York is famous for the Metropolitan Opera House and Broadway theatres, where many musicals are shown. 5th Avenue is a popular shopping street.
