Which form do we use: after modal verbs, after adjectives, to show purpose, after certain verbs (decide, appear), after prepositions, as a noun, after expressions (I’m busy etc), after certain verbs (fancy, start, avoid, spend, imagine, suggest etc)? b Put the verbs in brackets into: -ing form or infinitive (with or without to).
1 Her father always tells her…(study) hard at school.
2 Do you like … (play) the piano? Do you know how…(play) the piano?
3 Poppy needs…(say) sorry to her sister.
4 I’m bored! Do you fancy … (listen) to music with us? I’m bored! Do you fancy… (watch) a DVD with us?

2. Do you like playing the piano? Do you know how to play the piano? — после like нужен герундий, а после how — инфинитив с to.

3. Poppy needs to say sorry to her sister. — после need употребляется инфинитив с to.

4. I’m bored! Do you fancy listening to music with us? I’m bored! Do you fancy watching a DVD with us? — после fancy используется герундий.

5. We must visit grandpa this weekend. — после модального глагола must ставится инфинитив без to.

6. I’ve never been to a summer camp but I’d like to go one day. — после would like употребляется инфинитив с to.
