One other World Heritage Site in Russia is Kizhi. It is located on an island in Lake Onega in Karelia. Kizhi is famous for its beautiful wooden churches and buildings, especially the Transfiguration Church with 22 domes, the Intercession Church with nine domes, and the wooden bell tower. These buildings were made without a single nail. Today Kizhi is a museum of wooden architecture and an important place that helps people learn about Russian history and traditional craftsmanship.
