Schoolchildren can start earning money when they are old enough to do simple and safe jobs, usually at the age of 14–16. It is better not to start too early, because studying should be the main thing at school.

Pupils may prefer jobs like babysitting, helping in a shop, walking dogs, delivering newspapers, or doing small tasks for neighbours. These jobs are usually easy to find and do not require special skills. Many teenagers choose them because they can work after school or at weekends.

Earning money can be bad for one’s studies if a pupil works too much and becomes tired. If a child spends too much time on work, there may be less time for homework, reading, and rest. That is why school and health should come first.

As for me, I think I could do some simple job and earn a little money, for example help neighbours or walk dogs. I would like to do it because it would teach me responsibility and help me understand the value of money. But I would never let work interfere with my studies.
