There was a family of four, Mr and Mrs Porter and their children. Mr Porter worked in an office and spent 6 days a week there. He returned home late. He had a hobby. Mr Porter collected stamps. His wife and his children took no interest in this hobby. His wife didn’t work. She was fond of talking and never thought of her husband’s wishes. His children did the same. Then, one day Mr Porter left his home and never returned. Nobody knew where he was. Some years passed and then his cousin, his only friend who was also fond of collecting stamps got a letter with no home address. But there were some stamps in the envelope. So Mr Porter was alive after all.

He had one hobby — he collected stamps. He kept his albums carefully and could spend hours looking at rare and beautiful stamps. Unfortunately, his wife and children took no interest in this hobby. His wife didn’t work. She was fond of talking and never thought of her husband’s wishes. His children did the same: they were noisy, careless and never listened to him.

Then, one day, Mr Porter left home and never returned. Nobody knew where he was. The family was surprised, but they did not really care. Some years passed, and then his cousin, his only friend, who was also fond of collecting stamps, got a letter with no home address. There were some stamps in the envelope, and they were very unusual and valuable. The cousin understood at once that the letter had come from Mr Porter. So Mr Porter was alive after all, and he had probably found a place where he could live quietly and enjoy his hobby.
