I spent a day with Kaid Ashton in Manila. We went to poor areas under bridges and near railway tracks, where many people live in difficult conditions. I saw him talking to residents, taking photos and asking them where they would like their pictures to be shown. He was very friendly, and many people were happy to speak to him. Later, we went back to his studio, where he turned the photos into large posters. In the afternoon, he showed me how he uses wheatpasting to put the posters on walls in busy streets. It was interesting to see how his art makes people stop and think.
