People acquire the smoking habit for different reasons. Some start smoking because their friends do it and they want to seem grown-up. Others begin smoking out of curiosity or because they think it helps them relax. In some families children see adults smoking and copy them.

To prevent people from starting to smoke, we should give them more information about the dangers of smoking. Parents and teachers should explain that smoking is not cool and does not solve problems. It is also important to ban smoking in public places and to help young people choose healthy activities.
