Dialogue 1

Mother: I’m really upset. My son and I have been arguing all week. He never helps me at home and comes back late without telling me anything.

Advice giver: I’m sorry to hear that. You should try to talk to him calmly and explain how you feel. Don’t start with accusations.

Mother: I’ve already tried, but he just says I’m always nagging him.

Advice giver: Then ask him to listen to you for a minute and tell him exactly what you need. It may also help to make a clear list of his duties at home.

Mother: That sounds reasonable. What else can I do?

Advice giver: Try to be patient and give him some responsibility. If he feels trusted, he may begin to behave better.

Mother: Thank you. I’ll talk to him again tonight.

Advice giver: Good luck. I hope you’ll sort out the conflict soon.

Dialogue 2

Father: My daughter and I have a serious conflict. She spends too much time on the phone and refuses to do her homework.

Advice giver: You should set clear rules and explain why they are important. It’s better to be firm but fair.

Father: I’m afraid she won’t listen to me.

Advice giver: Then try to find a compromise. For example, she can use the phone after she finishes her homework.

Father: Yes, that may work. I don’t want to quarrel with her all the time.

Advice giver: Exactly. Speak to her calmly, listen to her opinion, and show that you respect her feelings.

Father: Thank you for your advice. I’ll try to solve the problem this way.

Advice giver: You’re welcome. I’m sure you can resolve the conflict.
