Read the well-known words by Jacques Delors. How do you understand his idea of the “global village”?

“But how can we learn to live together in the “global village” if we cannot manage to live together in the communities to which we naturally belong: the nation, the region, the city, the village, the neighbourhood? Do we want to make a contribution to public life and can we do so?”

By the “global village” Jacques Delors means that all people in the world are closely connected and should learn to live together peacefully, just as people should cooperate in their own communities first. His idea is that if we cannot build harmony in our family, neighbourhood, city, or country, it will be even harder to live together in the whole world. We should take part in public life and make a contribution to it.
