Crazy Horse is the name of a great Native American chief. He was a Sioux leader who fought to protect his people’s land, traditions and way of life. The monument to Crazy Horse was started in 1939 by Sioux Chief Standing Bear and sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski. It is being carved into a mountain in the Black Hills, and when it is finished, it will be much bigger than the Mount Rushmore faces.
