Around the World in 80 Days I (1) ’ve just read this book by Jules Verne. It’s about an English man called Phileas Fogg and his French servant Passepartout, who try to travel around the world in 80 days. Of course in those days aeroplanes (2) didn’t exist and people (3) used to travel by train and ship. Phileas and Passepartout set out from London and they (4) travel through Egypt to India. But there they (5) discover that the railway isn’t finished, so they have to travel by elephant. During their journey they rescue a woman called Aouda from danger, and they (6) have lots of adventures together. Then they return to England after 81 days. Phileas is disappointed! But in the end he realizes that he’s got the wrong date -actually they (7) completed the journey in 80 days. At the end of the story, Phileas marries Aouda and they all live happily ever after.
