A description of a work of art
1 Read the text and choose the correct participle.
My Favourite Work of Art
My favourite work of art is called Another Place. It’s an installation (1) locating/ located at Crosby Beach, near Liverpool. Another Place was created by the British artist Antony Gormley, who’s famous for his figurative works.
The installation consists of 100 metal figures (2) facing/faced towards the sea. All the sculptures are 1.89 metres tall because they’re exact replicas of the artist’s body. The figures (3) spreading / spread over a 2 mile stretch of the beach have become a popular tourist attraction in the area. At one point the installation was going to be moved to New York, but the people of Crosby (4) fascinating/ fascinated by the artwork decided that it should stay there permanently.
I really like Another Place because it’s strange to see iron men (5) standing / stood in the sea. The atmosphere of the installation changes depending on the weather and the tide. Sometimes, when the tide is high, you can’t see the figures at all!

Writing

The Bronze Horseman is a famous statue by Falconet. It is situated in Senate Square, in Saint Petersburg. The monument, made of bronze, is a statue of Peter the Great.

The statue with the pedestal is about 13 metres tall. It is one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg and is known all over the world.

I like this work of art because it is impressive and beautiful. It is not only a sculpture, but also an important part of the city’s history.
