The Russian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is a quiz show on Channel 1. It started in 1998 and was hosted by Maxim Galkin. In 2006, the cash prize was 3,000,000 Russian roubles, and the Walkaway SMS game was added. I think this show is very exciting and popular because people can win a lot of money and test their knowledge.
Star Factory is the Russian version of the international Star Academy format. It also aired on Channel 1 and started in 2000. There were six seasons, and the host was Yana Churikova. The most successful graduates were the girl band Fabrika, the boy band Korni, Yulia Savicheva and Dmitry Koldun. The winners got either a record deal or a cash prize. I think this show is different from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? because it is about music and young performers, not questions and answers.
