Задача

II READING COMPREHENSION (AB-II)

Read the story of John Carr, who changed his career, and decide in which gap (1—10) each phrase (A—K) should go. There is one extra phrase that you do not need to use.

In his own way, John Carr, 31, was a protester. Everything about him suggested he would become a teacher, (1). After two years as a lawyer, he realised he would prefer to be in the classroom. He now works as a trainee teacher (2).

“I used to wake up each morning and think: ‘Oh no; (3).’ And I just thought, well, maybe that’s what life is like. It is such a relief to find it is not. I left law about 18 months ago. I was with a large firm in Brighton. I felt like I wasn’t doing (4). I suppose I could have moved to a different firm (5). But, to be honest, I didn’t really want to spend five or six years waiting. I think I knew what (6) — I just needed to finally go and do it.

Both my parents were teachers, I was drawn to teachers and people said (7). I suppose I went against my parents’ wishes. It didn’t surprise my friends and family when I finally accepted that. I am really enjoying what I am doing. I am learning on the job, teaching politics, economics and geography. Every day is different. There is (8). I feel I’m doing something that is good for people. But I am here for myself as much as for the students.

In the future I’d like to work (9). I feel there is a wide choice. I don’t have any regrets. Not even giving up (10).”
