Teenage rebellion can occur at different stages of adolescence, usually between the ages of 13 and 17. During this period boys and girls often want more independence and try to show that they are adults.

Boys may behave more aggressively or challenge rules more openly, while girls often become more emotional and sensitive. Of course, every teenager is different, so their behaviour can vary.

Teenage rebellion can influence academic performance. Some teenagers lose interest in studying, skip homework or get lower marks because they are more focused on their personal problems and freedom.

It also often affects relations with parents and teachers. Teenagers may argue with adults, refuse to listen to advice and become less cooperative. However, if adults are patient and understanding, these relations can improve.
