1. The text mentions the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Industrial Revolution. The Middle Ages were a long period when life changed slowly; the Renaissance was a time of great cultural and scientific progress; the Industrial Revolution was the period when machines and factories began to develop rapidly.
2. At first people used their own muscles and the muscles of animals. Later they used wind and water power, and then steam engines and other machines.
3. Europe lost its forests because people cut down too many trees. Wood was needed for building, heating and making tools, so forests were destroyed.
4. The invention of the engine was very important because it made production much faster and easier. It helped people use new sources of power and develop transport and industry.
5. Thanks to technological achievements, human society became more developed, comfortable and productive. People could travel faster, produce more goods and improve communication and everyday life.
6. The negative results of the technological revolution are pollution, the destruction of nature and the exhaustion of natural resources. People can improve the situation by using technology more carefully, saving energy and protecting the environment.

Technology in the Middle Ages developed slowly. People mainly used simple tools, hand labour, windmills and watermills. Most work was done by people and animals.

During the Renaissance science and technology began to develop faster. New ideas appeared, and people started to study nature more carefully. This period prepared the way for later inventions.

The Industrial Revolution in Europe changed life greatly. Machines replaced manual labour in many fields, factories appeared, and steam power became widely used. It was a turning point in the history of technology.
