Tick true and cross false. 1 The tour is taking place in the Champagne district. 2 The tourists are not going to see the interior of the Council of Europe building. 3 People of all ages are allowed to tour the Council of Europe building. 4 Each member of the Parliament has an office in the building. 5 The Council of Europe building is used only in autumn. 6 All the buildings are different in shape. 7 After the tour the tourists are going to the city center for dinner. Tour guide: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the beautiful, historic city of Strasbourg. I hope you enjoyed your tour of the Champagne district yesterday and that you had a good journey here today. We are going to start our tour at the Council of Europe building. This was designed by the architect Henry Bernard from France. Yes, sir, I can spell that for you. Henry, H-E-N-R-Y Bernard, B-E-R-N-A-R-D. It was built in 1977. We aren t going into the building today, but you can arrange tours. The only rule is that no children under the age of 14 are allowed. In 1999 the European Parliament moved to a new building which we can see ahead of us. This is the Louise Weiss building named after the writer and committed European who died in 1983 at the age of 90. This building has been much talked about since it opened, mainly because of the very great costs of building it, approximately $$400 million in total. Many of the complaints were caused when it was found that each Member of the European Parliament had a shower built in their office at a cost of$$12,000 each. Another complaint is that the building is only used for one week each month and not at all during August. Now, you ll see there are two other buildings linked to the Louise Weiss building. One is called the Salvadore de Madariaga building and the other is the Winston Churchill building. You ll notice that all the buildings are round. The shape was to represent trust and a free sharing of ideas between countries. After we have walked around the buildings, we will be taking the tour bus back to the city centre where we ll have dinner at the famous restaurant Au Crocodile, near the cathedral. You ll have the opportunity to eat local food, beautifully cooked … *Цитирирование части задания со ссылкой на учебник производится исключительно в учебных целях для лучшего понимания разбора решения задания.
