Talk about the Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an international programme for young people. It was started in the UK in 1956 by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. The award helps teenagers develop important life skills, become more independent and active, and learn to work in a team.

There are usually three levels of the award: Bronze, Silver and Gold. To get the award, participants must complete different activities in several areas: volunteering, physical fitness, skills, and an expedition. At the Gold level, there is also a residential project.

Many famous people have received the Duke of Edinburgh Award. For example, Prince William and Prince Harry took part in the programme.
